Total Warrior’s Great Northern Mud Run welcomes over 25,000 people to Bramham Park next week, with over £50,000 set to be raised for charity.
This year Total Warrior celebrates its 13th year and there will be over 20,000 people walking through the gates of Bramham Park in Leeds next week. Total Warrior’s Great Northern Mud Run is the pinnacle of obstacle racing providing one of the the most challenging OCR courses in the UK and largest mass participation event in the North.
Comprised of four courses / distances (a 3km Junior Course, 6km, 12km and Ultra Warrior) the obstacles include: towering climbing frames, shear fronted walls, fire pits, mud slides and ice plunges. This is not your average Mud Run and every year it attracts the toughest of warriors from across the country and beyond. For the past 11 years the event has taken place in the stunning surroundings of Bramham Park in Leeds.
This year more than 11,000 participants are signed up to take part, ranging in age from 7 to 75. With a Junior Warrior course for school groups and scouts, as well as two adult courses there is something for everyone. The event also hosts a festival atmosphere allowing thousands of spectators to watch the events for free and enjoy food, drink and live music on site.
Runners can take part individually or as part of teams, with many people choosing to raise money for charity. Total Warrior’s 2023 partner charities are: St Gemma’s Hospice, Heel & Toe Children’s Charity, Veterans At Ease, Leeds Mind, Candlelighters and Alzheimer’s Research UK.
This year Total Warrior are excited to welcome back runners from ‘From Garforth with Love’ – a charitable group who take part in Total Warrior every year to raise money for partner charity Leeds Mind, in memory of a young mum from Garforth who tragically took her own life. This year the group have over 50 adults signed up to the 12km course and over 20 young people (aged 7 – 12) signed up to the 3km Junior Course. Runners will be attending with family and friends, making the most of the free entry for spectators. It is so fantastic to see such commitment from this amazing group of fundraisers and we are excited to welcome them back for another Total Warrior!
Leeds Mind had this to say: “Total Warrior is such a great way for our supporters to challenge themselves and have fun, while raising money for better mental health for all. Over the years, our Total Warriors have raised over £13,000. We couldn’t provide the vital mental health support that we do without fundraising like this. For example, £250 can help fund a peer support session for 10 people. We know that for many people, a physical challenge with friends can be a boost for their own mental wellbeing, as they achieve something they might not have thought they were capable of, and it encourages them to get moving. The group From Garforth with Love has taken a tragic event and rallied together to start a conversation around mental wellbeing. We couldn’t be more grateful for their support.”
Last year over £60,000 was raised for charities across the UK, with many of those supporting people in the Yorkshire region. In addition to this fund-raising, many of those taking part have their own stories to tell, including stories about overcoming physical barriers and celebrating personal achievement. Last year there was even a proposal half way round the course!
There will be a roaming event photographer and videographer and on request we are able to provide event imagery. We also welcome press photographers, TV and radio coverage. Our Press Manager (Julia White) will be on site across the weekend to support in capturing the event and organising interviews.
We look forward to hosting you at this year’s event. In the meantime, you can find out more on Total Warrior’s website and social media channels.
